Entries are now open for the 2020 Northern Virginia Senior Amateur Championship
The 2020 Northern Virginia Senior Amateur championship will be held this year at Loudoun Country Club in Purcellville, VA on Monday and Tuesday, 28 & 29 September. It’s a classic gem of a golf course dating from 1927 enhanced with some recent renovations.
New this year: This tournament is a VSGA tier S4 points event (Senior/Championship division only) with 30 points for the winner and points awarded for the top 10 finishers.
The format of the tournament is 36 holes of medal play (18 holes each day) in two divisions — Senior / Championship (age 55 and over) and Super-Senior (age 65 and over). Similar to the VSGA, MAGA and WMGA Senior Amateur tournaments, there is no cut after play on Day 1 and all players have the opportunity to play both days. Play will be organized by tee times beginning at 11:00 am on Monday, 28 September and at 9:00 am on Tuesday, 29 September.
The field will be limited to a total of 60 players (both divisions combined) and as a covid-19 pandemic precaution we are planning on one player per golf cart to minimize risk of exposure and/or spreading of the virus. The Senior / Championship division will play at about 6300-6500 yards and the Super-Seniors at about 6000-6200 yards.
The entry fee is $125 including golf, cart and range balls (no lunches are included). The club will have food and beverages available for purchase near the clubhouse on the outdoor patio.
Entries will be accepted online only on our website: https://novagolf.org/tournaments/senior/senior-schedule/ The website registration is a two-step process: In step 1 complete the entry form and accept conditions, AND CLICK THE GREEN SEND BUTTON which sends us an email with your entry information. After you have clicked on the GREEN SEND button, proceed to Step 2 and click on the orange PAY ENTRY FEE button and complete your credit card payment. We will acknowledge receipt of your entries by email. Confirmation that you are in the field will take place later. Because of the limited field size, entry into the field will be determined by handicap indexes and GHIN scoring records. Anyone who doesn’t make it into the field will receive a full refund of their entry fee. Please make your entries as soon as possible and don’t wait to the last minute as we will close entries soon after we have received at least 60 entries.
Practice rounds are available for $40 including a cart. The club has set aside tee times for practice rounds on Tuesday 22 September 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Thursday 24 September 10:00 to 11:00 am, and Sunday 27 September 1:00-2:00 pm. Call the pro shop for tee times at 540-338-7705 beginning Monday 21 September at 12:00 pm and please make sure you indicate it is for a practice round for the event.
