3 May 2026 — At Army Navy CC and River Creek Club: The A-Team of Army Navy CC (ANCC) won the title in the annual Spring Northern Virginia A-Team Championship over River Creek Club (RCC) by a score of 15-3.  This team competition has been held since 1971.  This was ANCC’s third win in the last 4 years, having won the title in 2023 and 2024, and finishing as the runner-up in 2025.

The A-Team matches consist of 12 players from each club with half playing on their home course and half playing away at the opposing team’s course. The matches are played from the Championship tees in a 4-ball match play format with Nassau scoring (1 point front nine, 1 point back nine, 1 point for all 18 holes) and played at scratch. One player on each team’s roster may be a professional while all others must be amateurs.

At RCC:  In match 1, ANCC won the front nine 3-up, won the back nine 2&1 and won the 18 5&4.  Result:  ANCC 3  RCC 0.   In match 2, RCC won the front nine 3-up; the back nine was tied; RCC won the 18 4&3.  Result:  ANCC ½  RCC 2 ½.  In match 3, ANCC won the front nine 1-up; the back nine was tied; ANCC won the 18 1-up.  Result:  ANCC 2 ½   RCC ½.    Total score at River Creek:  ANCC 6, RCC 3.

At ANCC:  In match 4, ANCC won the front nine 3-up; ANCC wins the back nine 1-up; ANCC wins the 18 4-up.   Result:  ANCC 3, RCC 0.  In match 5, ANCC wins the front, back and 18.  Result:  ANCC 3, RCC 0.  In match 6, ANCC won the front nine 4-up, won the back nine 1-up, and won the 18 5&4.  The result was ANCC 3  RCC 0.  The total score at ANCC: ANCC 9, RCC 0.

The overall total score was ANCC 15  RCC  3
