At Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club, Leesburg, VA — The Free State Seniors Golf Association of Maryland (FSSGAM) team narrowly defeated a resurgent Northern Virginia Golf Association (NVGA) Seniors team in the 31st annual Potomac Challenge team competition completed on Wednesday and Thursday November 6 & 7, 2024 by a score of 19-17.

This was the 31st annual Potomac Challenge team competition which consists of 12-man teams (10 seniors age 55+ and 2 super-seniors age 70+) that play four nine-hole formats over two days.  Day 1 includes six 9-hole 4-ball matches and six 9-hole modified foursome matches (select drive, then alternate shot).  Day 2 includes six 9-hole select shot matches followed by twelve 9-hole singles matches.

Maryland won the Fourball matches by 2 points, Virginia won the Foursome matches by 1 point, the Select-Shot matches were tied, and Maryland won the singles matches by 1 point.

The final score was Maryland 19 Virginia 17.  Congratulations to the Maryland team for winning the 31st  annual Potomac Challenge!  Maryland has now won the last 3 years in a row.
