Entries are now open for the 2024 Northern Virginia Senior Amateur Championship which will be held this year at Springfield Golf and Country Club on Tuesday & Wednesday 9-10 July.
This tournament is a VSGA tier S4 points event (Senior/Championship division only – age 55+) with 75 points for the winner and points awarded for the top 10 finishers.
The defending champion is Jon Zampedro (Pleasant Valley GC). Other division winners last year were Mikeal Johnston (Evergreen CC) in Super-Seniors and Lynn Wessman (Army Navy CC) in Legends.
We have had some interest in players age 50-54 in playing in our tournament so we are including a pre-senior division. That division will not be eligible for the Championship title since we use the USGA age standard of age 55 and over. They will have a separate division and compete for a proportional share of the prize pool.
The format of the tournament is 36 holes of medal play (18 holes each day) in four divisions — Pre-Senior (age 50-54), Senior / Championship (age 55 and over), Super-Senior (age 65 and over), and Legend (age 70 and over). Similar to the VSGA, MAGA and WMGA Senior Amateur tournaments, there is no cut after play on Day 1 and all players have the opportunity to play both days. Tee times will start at 8:00 am on both days.
The Pre-Senior and Senior / Championship division will play at about 6300 yards, the Super-Seniors at about 6150 yards, and Legends at about 6000 yards.
Entry Deadline is Friday 5 July.
The entry fee is $145 including golf, cart and range balls (no lunches are included). The club will have food and beverages available for purchase.

The website registration is a two-step process: In step 1 complete the entry form and accept conditions, AND CLICK THE GREEN SEND BUTTON which sends us an email with your entry information. After you have clicked on the GREEN SEND button, proceed to Step 2 and complete your credit card payment. We will acknowledge receipt of your entries by email.
Our payment system will accept payments via PayPal, Venmo, or debit and credit cards. Please ignore the “Pay Later” button which is about opening a line of credit with PayPal. You will receive a receipt for your payment to your email address. Ignore any references to “shipping” as the payments are for entry fees and no merchandise is being purchased or shipped.
Practice rounds for the tournament are available on Wednesday 26 June in the afternoon and on Sunday 30 June for a fee of $50 including a cart. Call the pro shop at 703-635-9670 up to 4 days ahead to get your tee time. Do not just show up and ask to play a practice round. When you call, please make sure you indicate it is for a practice round for the event.
