We will be doing a dual start from #1 and #10 so all groups will be able to tee off between 9:00 am and 9:50 am.  The Amateur division and Senior Division will be starting on hole #1; the super-senior division will be starting on hole #10.  Please complete your warmup routine and report to the table at the scoreboard about 10 minutes before your tee time for any final instructions.  The range will be open beginning at 7:30 am.

Each foursome consists of ¼ of the bracket (1/2 of the bracket for amateurs since we only have 8 players in that division).  You will play in the same foursome for both the morning and afternoon matches.  In each foursome, the two winners of the morning matches will play against each other in the afternoon with the winner advancing to the semi-finals (or finals for the amateur division) on Tuesday morning.  The two losers in the morning matches will play each other in a consolation match with the winner receiving a $50 gift card for the pro shop.  In each foursome, 1 player will win two matches and advance to play on Tuesday, 2 players will win one match and receive a gift card, and one player will lose two matches and have had a great day of golf and camaraderie.  😊

The seeding in each division was done with the defending champion the #1 seed and the rest of the division seeded based on index and VSGA rankings.  Some adjustments were made so that players from the same club do not have to play against each other in the two matches on Monday.

For your planning purposes, the Amateurs will be playing from the Gold/Blue combo tees at about 6763 yds; Seniors from the Member tees at about 6499 yds; and Super-Seniors from the Langan (White) tees at about 5966 yds.

We may alter some tees, like hole #5 for example, to add a risk/reward drive-able par 4 for some variety and strategy to the mix.

Pace of play is very important to complete both matches by a reasonable time. Play ready golf.  Ideally each foursome should be able to play the first 18-hole match in 4 hrs., take a short break for lunch if needed, and go out for the afternoon matches as soon as the foursome is ready.  Sometimes there is a delay if a match ends in a tie after 18 holes for the sudden death playoff.  If a match ends early (someone wins 4&3 for example,) that two-some can return to the clubhouse and wait for the other two players to finish their match and rejoin for the afternoon matches.  There should be a smooth flow into the afternoon matches as soon as your foursome can be ready.

We will have some Piedmont and/or NVGA volunteers monitoring play on the course.  If your group is out of position, we’ll ask you to pick up the pace.  If the group fails to get back in position in a reasonable time, we may instruct the group to skip a hole to get back in position.  We would like to avoid that situation, so be very mindful of your position on the course and pace of play.

The clubhouse will be closed for food service on Monday.  Remember to bring your own lunch / snacks for those who did not order a box lunch.  (8 people ordered box lunches and will be ready for you by mid-morning.)

We are looking forward to seeing you at the tournament!

Regards,

Your NVGA volunteers: Mark Vandegrift, Jon Zampedro, Lynn Wessman, Richard Lion, and Mark Rallas
