Greetings Head Pros and A-Team Captains!

A-Team is almost upon us.

Below you will find links to the entry form and rules for the 2020 Northern Virginia Golf Association A-Team matches.

2019 Captains, if you are no longer the Captain please notify me and forward to your 2020 Captain and/or secondary contact. Head Pro’s, please forward to your assistant/s if you are not coordinating on behalf of your club. Please promptly identify these new contacts and send us an accurate e-mail address and cell number.

All necessary instructions for entry and play are included in the attached documents.

Schedules will not be determined until shortly after entries close on February 28th. Please enter as early as possible.

If you are not going to enter a team, and you are aware of this now, please let me know as soon as possible.

Bracket Play matches are scheduled for March 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th. As we all know weather can be a heavy factor in bracket play. It is my goal to balance the schedule over the three weekends as practically as possible, that will allow for rescheduling, if necessary. Depending on the number of entries, it is also my goal to form 4 team brackets which will result in 3 matches per team, however, it is possible that we end up with one or two 3 or 5 team brackets. If any team is strongly opposed to this, please let me know as it has a profound effect on scheduling.

Assuming we can get bracket play completed on March 29th, the play-offs will commence April 4th (quarters) and April 5th (semis). Since Easter falls on April 12th, both clubs that qualify for the finals can mutually agree to play on April 11th. If this is not possible, the finals can also be moved to Saturday April 18th.

As in the past, please limit dates that your course is unavailable to one. Also, please be aware that we should continue to do our best to adhere to certain minimum standards with regard to course conditions for our matches. This time of year can bring about some questionable course conditions as a result of off-season course construction and/or extensive preseason course maintenance. Please be cognizant of these standards when deciding whether or not to enter your club for this competition.

If have any questions, please e-mail me at markv@novagolf.org.

We look forward to your participation in the 2020 A-Team matches!
